About Sierra Pharr

Through my time at Texas Christian University so far, I have been able to take courses focusing on the framework for nursing, including anatomy, nutrition, and effective communication. I have taken a special interest in courses focusing on errors within healthcare, including a course titled, Healthcare Disparities in African Americans, in hope to further learn more about inequalities within healthcare. In between my time as a student, I have had opportunity to work as a Patient Care Technician through Medical City Dallas both on their full-time and PRN staff within a variety of units to gain patient care experience as well as hospital flow management to enhance my skills as I move further into a career in nursing. My responsibilities within my units vary, however typically include patient hygiene, patient services management, assisting nurses with bedside procedures, Glucometer and Vitals testing, as well as Advanced Life Support Emergency Intervention. Following the completion of my Nurse Externship at Children’s Health Dallas, I have take a special interest in pursuing a career in Pediatric Medicine.
