About Silja Nikula
I work as free artist and researcher. My interests are in visual communication, especially images used in communication purposes, as part of visual culture. Design processes and artistic practices are also in my focus area in research. Hand making technics is my favourite field, In the near future, I will advance my skills in calligraphy. In my dissertation (2012) I created artworks by the method of wood-block printing. The research question was how to tell about travel experiences through graphic, still images. I shed light on the creation of a picture and its language as a producer of meanings. Below some images of my previous art exhibitions:
