I am Acting Head of the CBDC Systems Analysis Group at Deutsche Bundesbank, where I lead research on CBDC architectures and manage a formal collaboration with MIT Media Lab’s Digital Currency Initiative. Between 2023 and 2025 I was Technical Lead and the Bundesbank representative in the System Architecture Office of the Digital Euro Alliance, building consensus on key design choices and coordinating a distributed engineering effort to deliver key component prototypes that informed the Eurosystem service offer for the Digital Euro. Previously I was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Bocconi University, where I created the graduate FinTech course; my research has appeared in the Journal of Financial Economics and JFQA. I work at the intersection of central banking, technology, and policy, focusing on practical, future-proof digital finance systems.
