About Simeon McAleer

Simeon (Si) McAleer is a senior GTM product manager in the IBM Storage team. He drives the timely delivery of capabilities monthly for a new SaaS Cyber Resilience storage offering that enhances existing backup solutions with things like AI/ML to help our clients connect the dots so their company is resilient. User experience work is something that really excites Si. He develops interdisciplinary teams to deliver solutions to human problems with technology. Previously, Si was the Chief of Staff to the GM of IBM Storage, supporting the business in everything from financials to development to strategy. Before that, Si led the IBM Accessibility program that drives IBM, and the industry, to create products that enable people, with either permanent or temporary disabilities, to equally participate in digital solutions. The guidance his team created (available at ibm.com/able) is unique in that it is crafted in simple language, involves the whole product team, and helps the team to break the tasks into bite size chunks. Additionally, the team made their accessibility checking plugin for browsers publicly available and it has been downloaded and used over a million times. Si helped bring the democratization of IBM’s Watson capabilities to the world. He started as the life science business development architect leading the charge to change healthcare. He started and grew the Watson Technical Sales team. He was a product manager for IBM teams incorporating Watson solutions into their products. He was the technical lead for the integration of a startup into the Watson ecosystem. That is a microcosm of Si’s work experience which has seen him as a technical seller, a business development representative, and a product manager. He has experience across a multitude of industries: healthcare, government, education, digital media, and financial services. Si was born in NY. He majored in Math and Physics at the University of Scranton, PA. He obtained a Ph.D. in Physics from Florida State University and worked at the Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory in Virginia. He currently lives in Austin, TX with his wife and two kids. When he is not working, he is helping his kids reach their dreams of becoming performers or professional soccer players.
