About Simi Aluko

The best innovation looks like the people it will serve. I am a community-oriented designer with a background in Civil Engineering, with a specific interest in the applications of sustainable architectural design, building materials innovation and industrialized construction to low-cost housing solutions for Urban African contexts. My approach is at the intersection between environmental sustainability, design for extreme affordability, and human-centered design. The built environment should preserve and enhance the culture of the people it is built for, and as I pursue my PhD in Sustainable Design and Construction at Stanford University, I'm looking to gain the skills and network to celebrate African communities and enhance quality of life in these cities through the built environment. With every skill and passion I develop, I am committed to contributing to a world where everyone enjoys a high standard of living, and a lifestyle that celebrates their historical, cultural and community context.
