About Simin Sheybani

With over 9 years of research experience, I am currently a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Dallas, where my core competencies lie in the realm of chemical research, specifically focusing on the degradation of persistent pollutants. My mission is to advance the field of environmental chemistry through innovative research, aligned with the university's dedication to scientific excellence. My expertise in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and my passion for developing sustainable solutions drive my contributions to our team's efforts. In my most recent work, I've been instrumental in designing a catalytic cycle using rare-earth metal ions to adsorb and degrade PFAS chemicals, a significant environmental concern. This involved a comprehensive mechanistic study employing LCMS and advanced NMR techniques, as well as the synthesis and characterization of novel Holmium-based metal–organic frameworks for potential cancer therapy applications. Before joining UTD, I pursued my master degree at Amirkabir University of Technology, where I worked on synthesis of targeted drug delivery nanoparticles. As a Research and Teaching Assistant, my commitment to this specialized research and my expertise in spectroscopy and materials characterization greatly enhanced our team's knowledge and innovation in the field.
