About Simon Allison

I am a specialist property practitioner. Described in The Legal 500 guide as an ‘excellent advocate’ and ‘one of the best barristers in the property field’ I relish all forms of advocacy and am a very experienced trial advocate. I have a particular interest in landlord and tenant work, and am widely recognised as a specialist in leasehold management, forfeiture and service charge cases. I am also frequently instructed across the full range of real property disputes, including issues of adverse possession, restrictive covenants, land registration and easements. I regularly advise on a wide range of issues arising out of development agreements, including joint venture agreements, options and overage, as well as on issues at the intersection of property and insolvency law. I have advised and appeared in numerous professional negligence claims connected to property transactions. My clients include developers, land owners, financial institutions, leasehold management companies, ground rent investment companies, local authorities, Right to Manage companies, LPA receivers and surveyors. Whilst the vast majority of my work is undertaken on a referral basis, I accept instructions from surveyors and other qualified professionals under the Bar Council’s Licensed Access scheme and occasionally I accept instructions on a public access basis. Before coming to the bar, I worked for 10 years providing (through my company) technical, design and production services to clients in the entertainment, film, corporate hospitality and motor industries, both in the UK and abroad. I have considerable commercial experience. In my spare time, I occupy myself entertaining my children, ideally combining this with my interests in cycling, cars, collecting photography books and working on my house (a thatched former cow shed).
