About Simon Anthony Mercado

Simon Mercado is Professor of Management and Higher Education Leadership at ESCP Business School (London Campus), where he teaches at master's level in the areas of strategy, leadership, organisational culture and cultural intelligence. His scholastic work focuses on HE management, internationalisation, and organisational culture. Simon has 20 years of senior level experience in the business school world with recent executive roles in London, Paris, and Dubai. He has previously served at ESCP as Executive Vice-President (EVP) for Global Affairs & Accreditation (2023-2024); EVP for Business & Corporate Relations (2021-2023); and as Dean of ESCP London (2015-2021). He previously held the Vice-Dean's position at Nottingham Business School (2011-2015), where he was also Head of International Affairs (2008-2011), and Head of the Department of Strategic Management (2005-2008). Simon is well known within the business school community as a conference speaker/chair, mentor and adviser. He chaired the Annual EFMD Conference in Lisbon (June 2019) and the inaugural EFMD Quality, Impact & Accreditation (QIA) conference in April 2023. He continues to convene the EFMD’s Annualised Internationalisation Workshop for business school leaders, now in its third edition. He has recently held position on the AACSB Dean’s Innovation Committee and has been a longstanding AACSB volunteer. He is a recent appointee to the Global Advisory Board of Studyportals, and also serves as an advisory board member for internationally accredited schools in France and Italy. He has held prior advisory roles with institutions in Finland and India. In the UK context, Simon is a volunteer for the UK's Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) supporting conference and CPD programmes. He has been Chair of the CABS International Committee (2021-2023) and an External Examiner at several UK universities, including Newcastle and Hertfordshire. He also sits on the advisory council of the French Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain. Simon positions as an industry voice on international business education policy and practice. His thoughts and commentary on internationalisation and educational leadership are featured regularly in international media. Recent outputs can be found in such titles as: AACSB Insights, EFMD Global Focus, and AMBA Ambitions Magazines.
