Hello everyone,well Im back now in my role after being diagnosed and treated for cancer,at the amazing Christie Hospital At this point in 2024 Im working Ad hoc / RETIRED from full time. Started my career(always think that word can mean to be out of control swerving about) in Aberdeen with an engineering company,Degree in Geography,post grad in Business Studies. Worked for major manufacturing employers Plessey.(public payphones as a buyer). Balfour Beatty,project to develop the wind turbine back in in 1986 and the start of EUROTUNNEL.Just shows how we take technology for granted,Eurotunnel and wind turbines used to be cutting edge! Since 2001 work has strong connections with ENGINEERIING apprenticeships TRAINING and advising employers about the recruitment and training of 2008 I have worked for SETA now known as Elevated Knowledge The work brought me into very different types of ENGINEERING companies from the food sector to chemical and facilities management. The main role since 2014 is the proactive promotion and guidance in schools and sixth forms about engineering apprenticeships and raising awareness of engineering as a career to both boys and girls. This aspect of my role took up a large part of my activity and I visit many schools and sixth forms in our area.This work requires an enthusiastic innovative and ways to engage with young people.Its also important to talk to parents,helping them understand about the value scope and suitabilty of Apprenticeships as a career start Our company objectives goals are to bring in new clients,help new employers recruit engineering apprentices.help employers train their staff and,identify new areas of training.Ive worked with a very focused and dedicated group of people who are very experienced in Apprentice training Personal goals? Im now RETIRED Well Ive had a rather varied career wrestling with the recession.and change and working in training and Engineering. Im passionate about Apprenticeships, about how the engineering industry addresses skills shortages and helping young people start their career.However personal self worth,financial security, catching a few salmon or big tarpon in Florida, Travel decent walks in the Highlands or another Zambian safari has always been important If any of you know of Engineering Employers seeking to recruit and train apprentices or young people interested in our sector contact me at simonartley@elevatedknowledge.co.uk
