About Simon Barnard

II am experienced ecologist having worked as an ecological consultant for nearly 15 years. I have worked on a wide range of projects from developments involving single houses up to large housing and commercial developments, Conservation projects and renewable energy projects. I specialise in protected mammals, with a particular interest in bats, but carry out a wide range of surveys and project work covering a wide range of areas of ecology. I currently hold Natural England and Natural Resources Wales survey licences for bats. I have held bat survey licences for over 10 years, currently being registered on the Level 3 (CL19) and Level 4 (CL20) Class Survey Licence in England. I also hold Natural England survey licences for Hazel Dormice and Barn Owls. I have been involved in designing mitigation schemes and obtaining Bat European Protected Species Development Licences for more than 100 sites, involving the full range of species of bats found in Cornwall. I am also a registered consultant on Annexes B, C and D on the Natural England’s Bat Mitigation Class Licence and regularly carries out voluntary bat work, both in the UK and overseas, and has projects running in the UK involving catching and ringing bats (Licenced by Natural England).
