About Simon Benjamin Knoop
I am a conservation scientist and biodiversity conservation project manager. Since 2016 I have been working with Indigenous peoples in Brazil. M.Sc. in Primate Conservation (2018) by Oxford Brookes University. I have published on issues related to Conservation and Indigenous peoples, such as the Influence of Evangelical conversion on Indigenous Communities or Illegal sport hunting on a Brazil-wide scale. Passionate about developing strategies for supporting Indigenous peoples protecting their lands. Since 2021, I am co-managing the NGO Living Gaia, which supports the Indigenous Huni Kuin in Acre, Brazil. Most prominently, I have contributed of establishing a reserve in close collaboration with local Indigenous and ribeirinho people. Building bridges between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous worlds is key to the "Reforestation of our minds": Transforming our relationship with nature.
