About Simon Burke

I'm a multi-disciplined vfx atist | lead | supervisor with over 20+ years experience, most recently working at The Mill, London. I have an extensive background in commercials, where I've occupied many different creative roles, from initial concept & design through to lighting and rendering. While lead artist and CG department head at Dublin studio Piranha Bar I directed and supervised animation and visual effects for a broad range of award-winning projects. My commercial work has been featured on Motionographer, Stash and Behance, and picked up awards at ICAD, the Sharks, ADC, and made the Animation shortlist for D & AD. In 2016 I joined Oscar-winning visual effects studio DNEG. While there I worked on Gore Verbinski's 'Cure for Wellness', Warner Bros production of 'Wonder Woman' for DC, the sequel to Guillermo Del Toro's 'Pacific Rim' and 'Avengers: Infinity War' for Marvel Studios. In 2018 I took on a lead role at MPC Film London, where I set up and oversaw lighting across seven sequences of Disney's epic re-imagining of 'The Lion King’, gaining an Oscar nomination for our work. I followed ‘Lion King’ by shifting gears back to the world of high-end commercials, joining MPC Advertising as CG Supervisor, working on campaigns for Vodafone & Heineken. Early in 2020 I moved back to Dublin and rejoined vfx & animation studio Piranha Bar as Creative Director, remaining there for 2 years directing and supervising an eclectic array of award-winning animated commercials. In 2022 I joined forces with the talented team at Jellyfish Pictures in London, CG Supervising episodic projects for HBO and Disney+ and a feature project for Universal,"Last Voyage of the Demeter". Most recently I engaged in a brief venture with Dublin studio Screen Scene, exploring the powerful and exciting possibilities of realtime rendering in Unreal Engine, before moving back into commercials to work with the incerdibly talented team at The Mill, London. https://vimeo.com/simonburke
