I have worked within the rail industry for 20+ years now Primarily within the Overhead Line Electrification Disciplines. Some duties are, Controlling safety of worksites, providing isolations, planning processes for OLE Works, Construction and Alterations to OHL systems, Carrying out Planned and unplanned Preventive and corrective Maintenance, Responding to catastrophic faults of OHL systems and rectification of faults. I have been privileged within my working career to have met and worked alongside some fantastic, patient people, who have kindly shown me knowledge and attributes required to be successful within my working career. I have worked for Nexus Rail now for 11 years and I have enjoyed working here and the benefits it comes with. As a OHL maintainer i have been lucky enough to have almost constant contact with the OHL system through the 11 years here on the Tyne and Wear Metro and have reaped the benefits of such a high level of physical contact with the OHL. As a department we have almost weekly hands-on Corrective and preventative maintenance on Contact and Catenary wires, Automatic Tensioning devices, Section insulators (SI's) and Re-registration, not to mention the high level tension length maintenance routines. I try to be at the forefront of all the major tasks and help coach less experienced staff through like people did for me in the past. I have been fortunate to have been Given the opportunity of a secondment to work alongside the Learning and Development team. This is to help produce training modules of OLE training due to my extensive knowledge of OHL, which has been in my opinion a success. Looking forward to what the future might hold here at Nexus.
