About Simon Cooper

My role as Partner at Monahans is to provide accounting and tax advice and support to my business and personal clients, primarily across the Swindon and Wiltshire area, from my office in Chippenham. I have been a qualified accountant for over 20 years, so my clients benefit from my expertise. I have good analytical skills and communicate some quite technical and complex matters in a way that clients will understand to enable them to make an informed decision. I like to feel that with my advice, I have ultimately made a positive difference. I like to develop a close working relationship with my clients so that I not only understand how their business works but can then filter the legislation to ensure that the advice I give is relevant and helpful to the business. I work with many different types of clients, whether it is an individual completing their first tax return or a multi-million pound company seeking to expand and looking for expert advice on key issues. I am often approached by individuals who are looking to start up in business and need some guidance to put them on the right track. It is critical to get it right from the start so the structure that they use is appropriate and effective going forward. I can advise on both personal and business taxes. Although tax is important, the bigger commercial picture is critical and that is always my starting point. The businesses that I advise range in size from relatively small sole traders up to more complex medium sized companies and all have their specific needs. These are rarely as simple as just tax planning but can involve growth strategy, restructuring, a business sale or even a potential exit from the business.
