About Simon Dutton

Kingsbury provides world leading machine tools and solutions to manufacturers across the UK, Ireland and GCC. I started as a technical apprentice and worked my way through every level within the manufacturing engineering function at Rolls-Royce over a 27 year period. After moving into the manufacturing engineering function in the 1990's I worked closely with design to enable the redesign of older part to enable machining on modern 5 axis platforms. This led me to running a project on the introduction of mill-turn technology to a number of casing parts. Next I moved to a JSF project developing Blisk manufacturing methods which ended up being used within the civil engines. During this time I identified the Hermle platform for the manufacture of Blisk parts and successfully introduce a new method of manufacture significantly reducing cycle time while improving quality. As a machining specialist I led the technical development of the Hermle standard platform globally at Rolls-Royce. This included leading the development of a number of parts within the high performance disc manufacturing (HPDM) project. Finally I was made a Global Process Owner responsible for machining standardisation until I decided to leave Roll-Royce in 2018. I started with Kingsbury in January 2019 as Strategic Development Manager for Aerospace, Power-generation, Defense & Space. In August 2020 I also took on the role as Area Sales Manager covering from the midlands to north England and north Wales.
