About Simon Gebraad

Climate change. I believe it's one of the greatest problems of our time. And I also believe that as designers, we can have a great impact on the world around us through the products we design. That's why I feel that I have a responsibility to be a part of the solution, and not of the problem. Through my designs, I want to work towards a more circular society by enabling easy upgrading, repair and recycling of products. I try to improve the lives of people and bring them closer together without compromising their future. An example of this is a project I did in 2021 for the Dutch libraries to integrate Makerspaces into libraries around the country. By creating a modular workspace, I not only helped to make creation and repair tools more accessible, I also created a longer lasting product that can be adapted and upgraded according to the needs of the time. And all throughout my Bachelor and Master Industrial Product Design at Delft University of Technology, I have learned to iteratively design and improve products that serve people's needs in the best way possible. And by intermixing these skills with my sustainability vision, I also try to improve the lives of people (far into) the future. So don't wait. Our time to influence the future is now.
