About Simon Getahun

I am a telecommunications professional with a strong educational background and more than 10 years of practical experience in the telecommunications industry. I completed my undergraduate study at Adama Science and Technology University on July 5, 2014, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Communication). Based on my undergraduate education I expanded my knowledge to more technical studies, and I earned a Master of Science in Telecommunication Network Engineering from Addis Ababa University in June 2025. I completed courses of Electrical and Computer Engineering with emphasis on Communication Engineering I attended different short-term and long-term training programs, in addition to my undergraduate and graduate studies, and so built a good foundation of telecommunications technologies. I have been working at the Ethio Telecom, the largest telecommunications operator in Ethiopia since December 17, 2014. I worked for a fixed network field operation specialist in my first position, which involved managing wired and wireless DSL networks, routers and switches, and the function of the network, which included management of the lifecycle of service delivery. I now work as a wireless network service monitoring specialist at the Service Operation Center of Ethio Telecom. At the Service Operation Center, I monitor the wireless network infrastructure, and help to make sure that the network performs optimally, and I also actively address any issues as they arise to maintain the best service possible. From the combination of my academic studies and professional experience, I have developed a good skill set of the areas of electrical engineering and communication engineering especially for any networking related environment. I am enthusiastic about using this expertise to support the growth and innovation of the telecommunications industry.
