About Simon Glenday

I am a British born teacher who has been teaching for 17 years in England, Singapore and China (Shanghai, Macau and Hangzhou). I have come to appreciate teaching in schools where students can celebrate their own cultures and experiences as well as learning from and appreciating those around them. I have an excellent understanding of the English National Curriculum, the Singapore English Curriculum, as well as the International Primary Curriculum. My students have the ability to explore subject matters by using different styles of learning. I encourage them to develop their own understanding of their learning styles. This helps them establish confidence, independence, and curiosity for learning whilst providing them with greater ownership over their work. Simply, happy students are effective learners. For the past 3 years I have been an administrator at a Bilingual School in Hangzhou. The school focuses upon developing and strengthening the bilingual/bicultural programmes, to create students with globalised Chinese characteristics. I am responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the Primary School, by liaising with administration and staff regarding the running of the school. I participate, coordinate and review the development and implementation of the Primary programmes, including policies, teacher appraisals, resourcing, professional development, curriculum planning, best practice, learning, assessment and reporting. Support effective pupil behaviour management procedures and ensure these are understood and implemented consistently by all staff. I am involved in supporting the pastoral and academic needs of the parents, via meeting and workshops.
