As the Company Director of Grace Safety and Compliance Ltd, I help organisations to train their staff to better understand the regulations that apply to their job role, as well as helping to simplify their working processes to make them easier to follow. STAFF COMPETENCY: The requirement to manage the competency of their staff has presented organisations with an additional compliance hoop to have to jump through, but many clients are finding that being able to demonstrate compliance with the requirements is not the same thing as having staff that are truly competent in their job role. I help organisations understand the intent of the competency requirements, and use this as a basis to build a competency process that truly embeds knowledge and understanding of the regulations and the job role into each member of your team. PROCEDURE NON-ADHERENCE: One common theme that multiple organisations have told me are in their top three most common audit findings is procedural non-adherence. people not following the published procedure. There are usually multiple reasons for this, staff awareness being one, but a good starting point to address this issue is to take a good look at your existing procedures. Are they as clear and as easy to follow as you would like them to be? A good procedure should be clear, easy to read, and ideally have a pictorial overview of the process it is describing, in order to make it easy to follow. Helping organisations review and update their procedures is what we do. In 2015, I set up my own company, Grace Safety & Compliance Ltd, to try and provide the Aviation Industry with some help in solving the same problems that we all face. From targeted Training packages to address specific areas within your organisation, through to help with writing procedures that are easier for your team to understand and follow, I've developed answers to our clients problems.
