About Simon Hall

I am hard working with a good attention to detail, I am able to quickly learn new skills and I am very self motivated. I am able to make swift judgements and difficult decisions, solve problems as well as use my own intiative to work unsupervised. I have lots of experience in various roles including preventative maintenance, arranging repairs servicing and safety inspections as well as facilities management, team leadership and mentoring new employees. I have experience with cryogenics and cryogenic systems, electrical wiring, soldering, MIG, MAG, MMA and TIG welding, brazing, general assembly, as well as particularly good knowledge of high vacuum systems and leak finding. In my current position at FLF I am the most experienced technician. I am very proud to have played a key role in the build of First Light's M3, which is the largest Pulsed power Machine in Europe, and I am now jointly responsible for the technical side of running and maintaining the facility. I am also heavily involved with the setting up, running and data aquisition aspects of scientific experiments as part of my daily role. I have also coordinated a team of other technicians during experimental campaigns, and been responsible for advanced preparation with regard to purchasing in consumables, fabricating parts in house and assuring items are ready to ensure timely programme delivery. I have good knowledge of ISO 9001 and it's requirements, a good knowledge of health and safety practices and laws and am IOSH Managing safely accredited. I would be very keen to step up to a higher position which would be commensurate with my skills experience and knowledge. I would also be very interested in working for start-up or very young companies where my experience and initiative would be helpful in allowing them to grow.
