About Simon Harkis

Having gained an MChem and PhD in polymer chemistry from Durham University, I now have 2 decades of technical, operations and commercial management experience within the air filtration, air pollution control and gas purification industries. I started out in R&D Management, followed by progression through several technical management roles, including Operations and Quality Management. I was previously responsible for Global Business Development and Technical Excellence for SGS IBR, with a focus on filtration testing and product validation. I have also launched and managed the Japanese division of a British filtration company, as well as holding roles in Senior Key Account Management and Product Management, using my extensive product knowledge and technical expertise to succeed in a tough marketplace. I have led the Operations and Technical departments of a brand new business venture, developing and manufacturing market leading technical products for blue chip clients including Coca Cola and PepsiCo. Recently I was using my extensive filtration product and industrial knowledge to assist clients in my capacity as Regional Manager for Filtermist in the UK, Ireland and Americas. I am now back where I feel I belong and I can make the most impact; Engineering Management. I am making the most of all of my filtration technical, operations and business experience to develop the filtration product capabilities, market penetration and profitability for Ingersoll Rand.
