About Simon Johansson

I'm a PhD in Fluid Mechanics with an interest in all kinds of advanced problem solving. During my PhD my focus was numerical simulations in OpenFOAM. With an increased knowledge in python and web development, together with my experience in data analysis brought me into the IT business and Sogeti where I currently works as a Data Scientist. My most recent project at Sogeti has been to detect defoliation of spruce trees due to the swarming of bark beetle. The bark beetle cause damages on the Swedish forest of around 6 billion skr. With analysis of satellite images from Sentinel 2 we have shown that we can detect defoilation of just a few number of trees. I also do some work within the field of operational research and mixed integer problems such as Vehicle routing problems and bin packaging. Lately I've been working a lot with react-native, React and Django to launch the app Brytbart.
