About Simon Kochanek

Simon is a Structural Director with more than 24 years experience in the construction industry where he has developed a practical, client focused approach to produce creative, cost-effective, innovative and buildable structural solutions. Simon prides himself on working closely with clients, project teams and architects to deliver excellence in engineering design and quality, coordinated documentation. He is also results focused with a strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. He has led design and project teams in a variety of large projects including the redevelopment of the Thomas Dixon Centre and the Carrara Sports Precinct. His particular expertise is within the Health, Sports and Recreational, Education and heritage sectors. He also has a very strong background in industrial facilities and the process industry through his broad experience in structural steel design. He has received a number of industry awards for his innovation in structural steel and concrete design including recent awards for the Carrara Sports Precinct delivered for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Simon has a special interest in working with heritage listed structures and their adaptive reuse and repair. Over the last 15 years he has gained a strong reputation within the heritage community for achieving innovative, outstanding results in the repair and rehabilitation of these structures through his focus on minimising the intervention and impact remedial engineering solutions have on the original heritage fabric.
