About Simon Lecompte

My work experience as an apparel design director has been very enriching and has given me a deeper understanding and knowledge of the industry. I have learned a lot of useful skills and experiences from it. When I first started in the apparel design industry my job was mainly designing clothes for different brands of the company, which gave me a better understanding of the fundamentals and process of apparel design. I learned how to conduct market research, how to identify target audiences and design garments for them, and how to design creatively within budget and time constraints. Later, I learned more advanced design skills, including how to work with different teams (e.g, sourcing, supply chain, marketing, etc.) and how to make more complex designs for garments, such as textiles, prints, and fabric choices. This gave me a deeper understanding of the entire apparel design process and learned how to work better together cross-functionally.As my career progressed, I became more involved in developing and managing design projects. I learned how to take leadership roles across the team, how to develop more effective plans and schedules, and how to communicate and coordinate better with clients and partners. This has given me more maturity and confidence to tackle more complex design tasks and challenges.
