About Simon Lestrange

I am a former Para athlete who qualified for Rio 2016 but did not compete due to injury. I have a mild form of cerebral palsy effecting my four limbs however I have been into my fitness from an early age and this has helped me navigate my bodies limitations. I hold a level 8 honours degree from Maynooth University where I studied social policy with a particular focus on two areas, disability and housing policy. I have vast sales and B2B experience and I am currently working on closing the disability employment gap with Employability Cavan Monaghan. I also currently work as an Independent Contractor for Paralympics Ireland, helping to set up para pathways and event facilitation. In the past I have worked in a high support social care unit and I have experience in physical restraints for residents safe guarding. I have experience in the private rental industry and have over 10 years experience in private property management both residential and commercial. I am experienced in conflict management and property management. I have always demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and learning and I am currently undertaking a QQI level 6 in professional workplace coaching. My current position in Employability focuses on supporting people with a health condition or disability into the workforce. This is achieved through working with clients on their employment goals and life aspirations. Furthermore I spend a lot of time cultivating positive relationships with employers both at a local and national level to raise awareness and education on how best to support a disabled person into their workforce. I have a proven record when it comes to building referrals and placing people successfully.
