About Simon Moorhouse

I’m an experienced Senior Leader, DSL, and specialist educator with a long-standing commitment to supporting children and young people who haven’t thrived in mainstream education. Since 2013, I’ve owned and operated Wood‑Sage Outdoor Education, a provision dedicated to engaging hard‑to‑reach learners through meaningful, skills‑based outdoor experiences that build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.My career spans both mainstream and specialist settings, including significant pastoral leadership experience as Head of Year in two mainstream schools and as a Senior Pastoral Manager leading a team of five pastoral leaders. Across these roles, I’ve shaped behaviour strategy, strengthened safeguarding culture, and built systems that support pupils with complex SEMH and EBD needs.I’m also a CPI Instructor across three sites, delivering high‑quality training that promotes safe, relational, and dignity‑focused practice for staff working with vulnerable learners. My work is deeply rooted in trauma‑informed practice, ensuring that every interaction prioritises emotional safety, connection, and understanding.At Wood‑Sage, I bring together safeguarding expertise, relational practice, and outdoor learning to create environments where young people can develop practical skills, emotional literacy, and a renewed sense of self-worth. I’m driven by the belief that every young person deserves opportunities that recognise their potential, meet them where they are, and help them move forward with purpose.
