About Simon Nyilassy

Simon is a long-time resident of Toronto who has enjoyed a successful 35 year career spanning many areas of real estate development and operations, including retail, residential (seniors housing and student housing), industrial and office. He has held senior executive roles in both public and private businesses, including as one of the founders of Regal Lifestyle Communities, a TSX listed company that was the fastest growing in its sector until it was sold to a large scale operator in 2015. He also led SmartReit through a period of substantial growth to become one of the largest retail landlords listed on the TSX. During this time he served on the board of his industry’s national association, the Real Property Association of Canada. He now runs his own real estate advisory business, Marigold & Associates, and has recently established a relationship with Forthlane Partners, a Canadian-based multi-family office whose mission is to professionalize and humanize how families engage with their wealth and each other. He is also on the advisory committee of a multi-billion dollar real estate investment fund. Outside of his business interests, Simon ran as a provincial representative in his home riding of Etobicoke-Lakeshore in 2011 and currently serves as vice-chair of the board of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree from the University of Warwick and is a chartered accountant.
