About Simon Pabst

Experienced R&D engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the motion pictures and film industry. On-set experience. Skilled in software development (C/C++, Python.), Linux, Windows, Unreal Engine, Maya, Nuke.I lead a global team of experienced and highly specialized software developers and engineers working on the next generation of VFX Realtime tools and processes for DNEG's VFX and Feature Animation divisions. Before moving into the Realtime Technologies group, I worked closely with DNEG's Shoot/On-Set Department on proprietary tools in both C/C++ and Python. Our software stack ingests many terabytes of complex on-set data across several DNEG sites every day using smart tools, and efficiently processes hundreds of thousands of raw images and videos so that our artists can quickly find and access the on-set data they need. Other tools I developed and maintained are DNEG's automatic panorama stitching tools, high dynamic range algorithms and state-of-the-art photogrammetry software.Strong research professional with a PhD in Computer Science/Computer Graphics from Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen / University of Tuebingen.
