About Simon Parry

I handle patent work across a wide range of engineering fields, with a special interest in Marine Engineering where I particularly enjoy drawing on my specialist technical background and experience - I'm rather unique in being a patent attorney with a degree in Ship Science from Southampton University. I lead our Marine & Ocean Engineering group at Mewburn Ellis. I have many years of experience in patent drafting, prosecution, oppositions and appeals. I am also experienced in Freedom to Operate opinions, and I particularly enjoy assisting my clients in the invention capture process. My other passion, apart from boats, ships and marine engineering, is automotive engineering work, and I have over 25 years experience working with automotive safety inventions. I am lucky to indulge my passion for cars and motorsport in my leadership our firm’s long-running sponsorship of UK electric Formula Student team, Team Bath Racing Electric.
