About Simon Podkoritnik

Simon Podkoritnik finished his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Slovenia. He started his professional career as Research Engineer at the High-Voltage Laboratory of the »Milan Vidmar« Electric Power Research Institute in Ljubljana. Later on in 2013 he received academic title Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Ljubljana teaching students the High-Voltage Engineering Fundamentals while completing PhD. His research interest mainly focus on electrical insulation, analysis (overvoltage transient modelling with analysis), studies, and measurements in High Voltage Laboratory and field measurements which includes electrical equipment (cables, transformers, breakers, etc.) and construction supervision. He is also expert in the field of nuclear power engineering and electric power transmission. His area includes calculations of reliability of the transmission lines and substations. Qualification for independent expert work in NPP’s came in to force 2011 when he completed training on nuclear research Center in Podgorica (Institute Jozef Štefan) receiving 3 certificates (OTJE I, OTJE II and IRC). In 2013 he received certificate for internal auditors in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 which granted him assessment of the competence of laboratories. He also deals with supervision of installation of equipment and quality control and quality assessment. For 6 years, he was a regular member of the SC A3 CIGRE Transmission and Distribution Equipment. Currently he is a president of the national study committee CIGRE SC A3 for Transmission and Distribution equipment and a regular member of CIGRE SC B1 for Insulated cables.
