About Simon Roadnight

In 2014, a film I made about my home town of Batley & Birstall was given a premiere at the Frontier Club Batley aka The Batley Variety Club. It was attended by 700-800 people and remains one of my proudest achievements. Future projects are in the planning with the latest set to focus on bands and performers who hail from the Heavy Woollen area as a whole. I am hoping to include periods from the 1950s to the modern era. I continue to write lyrics and sing in the duo Raspberry Tortoise and this year saw us release our fifth offering 'A Distant Memory'. I am also beginning to write poetry in an effort to keep the creative juices flowing whilst I am currently lying low from a mystery illness that has plagued me now for three years. It still remains undiagnosed. I am a member of the committee for the Batley History Group and this year I was elected chairman of the newly formed 'Friends of Batley Library' group. I have a keen interest in history, be it general or local.
