About Simon Wharne

website @ http://simonwharne.com/ Over the past twenty five years I have held a number of paid and voluntary roles in mental health services. Having developed skills in managing and auditing services, managing budgets, leadership and supervising staff teams, I have become involved in designing, setting up and developing services. I have worked within the N.H.S. and Social Services, building knowledge of structure and process, while also having experience within the voluntary sector. I have gained skills in research and auditing through part-time study, leading to the publishing of articles and chapters. I have run training events and workshops over many years, participating in national and international forums in the development of Assertive Outreach services. I am available for consultation in this area. Currently studying with the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling; DCPsych in Counselling Psychology Apart from managing and taking a clinical lead with two busy Assertive Outreach Teams. I have completed a part-time research PhD with the Open University. I have developed an interest in using phenomenological and critical narrative approaches and would like to get more involved in research, policy development and teaching. Specialties: I have written on Assertive Outreach from a qualitative research perspective and I have run workshops, given presentations on setting up and managing teams which have an outreach function.
