About Simona Thimot

I am a creative thinker who is most comfortable in a coaching and mentoring leadership role. My area of expertise is empowering initiative in group processes. I leverage my communications skills to inspire individuals, help them thrive in teams and achieve successful outcomes. I have been a communications specialist, change manager, executive project manager and program manager who has led multi-million dollar projects during significant transformational periods in the education, social service and telecommunication sectors. I also mentor MBA students. I apply my love of learning by mentoring staff at all levels, developing experiential learning activities, and facilitating group processes. My current academic research is focused on the contribution of interpersonal trust to the generation of flow in group activities. My overarching research interest is how to create spaces where people tap into their creativity and generate innovation, and leveraging this understanding to contribute to the transformation of the public sector. I am a graduate of Royal Roads University's Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, and earned the Royal Roads University Chancellor's Award for the highest academic achievement in my program. My story would be incomplete without noting my multinational background and Canada-wide experience. I and my family have adapted happily to life in Victoria, as we love anything in and around the water.
