About Simone Brauner

After many years of experience in digital communications,"designer" best fits my official job title. I originally studied visual communication, got pulled into the dot-com bubble early on in my studies, and feel a bit "self-taught" myself. After a 16-year permanent position at the Hamburg-based digital agency "Cellular", I decided to freelance to be able to think outside the box. In 2020 I founded polardots.studio GmbH together with my husband with the vision to create a place where digital and analog things converge. Mainly I work within the UI and UX area. Often clients do not distinguish between the two worlds, so lately I have been able to gain more and more experience in the field of UX. However, my focus is on designing user interfaces for use on mobile and stationary devices. So far I have created designs for web, phone, smartTV, digital signage and control systems in cars. Besides UI and UX I am interested in branding and character design. Maybe also because of this "polarity" I'm always looking for the balance to the digital world in the analog, which is why I also like to be in the print shop. Three things come to mind when I think of the question "What motivates you?": problems, playfulness, and the new. Problems motivate me because design offers a solution. The play instinct plays a driving role in the "trial and error" process until at some point this beautiful feeling of resolution arises: This is how it can work! The third point, the new, is meant as the way to drive things further, to improve, integrate further knowledge, and thereby achieve more quality, perfection, and positive change.
