About Simone Cavanaugh

Simone Cavanaugh is a Director at McKinsey & Company where she focuses on work in the public and social sector. Passionate about the intersection of human rights, government policy and corporate social responsibility, Simone is a J.D./B.C.L. graduate of McGill University’s Law Faculty with a Major in International Human Rights and Development, contributing to research on human rights with professors in the faculties of Law and Medicine. She is the Founder of Pivot International, a non-profit organization that provides sustainable access to adapted equipment and promotes the rights of children with disabilities. Diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at the age of six, Simone was a wheelchair user and spent many years advocating for children with disabilities around the world. Simone is an alumna of the Prime Minister’s Youth Council where she advised Prime Minister Trudeau on issues pertaining to the rights of women, children, and people with disabilities in Canada. She recently attended the Conference of States Party to the UNCRPD in New York as part of the official Canadian delegation where she chaired a panel on youth leadership. Simone completed an OceanPath Fellowship with the Coady International Institute through the implementation of a human rights advocacy education workshop with vulnerable populations in Nicaragua. She gave a talk at TEDxMontrealWomen on transforming life’s obstacles and is committed to motivating others through her experiences.
