About Simone Chiola

As a PhD-trained Research Scientist with experience across leading institutions like Stanford University, Huntsman Cancer Institute, and SISSA, I have developed a unique skill set in functional genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular biology. My work spans high-impact areas including gene therapy, cancer research, and neuronal connectivity, and has resulted in multiple publications in top-tier journals such as Nature Communications and Cerebral Cortex. With a background in designing and optimizing advanced bioinformatics pipelines, as well as quantitative cellular assays, I bring expertise in both wet-lab techniques (e.g, iPSC differentiation, flow cytometry, scRNAseq, ddPCR) and bioinformatics tools (e.g, DESeq, EdgeR, GSEA) that support data-driven discoveries and therapeutic development. My recent work in gene therapy at Stanford involves the precise quantification of gene expression for AAV gene therapy candidates, further advancing my expertise in targeted therapeutics. In addition to my technical experience, I have a proven record in cross-functional collaboration, CRO management, and mentoring.
