About Simone Compton

I have research experience involving macaque, mouse and human studies, which includes conducting lab research and statistical analysis. I am currently a Postgraduate Associate at Yale University School of Medicine doing human and mouse research. My experience during Spring 2018 at Vanderbilt University allowed me to work with Dr. Anita Disney, assisting in experiments of non-human primate neuromodulatory systems via electrophysiological recordings. I was also able to use my analytical skills to organize and assess that data for future research efforts. I learned valuable lab and analysis techniques. My research assistant role in Dr. Jeannie Chen’s lab during Summer 2018 at the University of Southern California focused on clock regulation of rhodopsin trafficking and disk membrane assembly in transgenic mice. I performed lab tests such as PCR, western blots and RT PCR, as well as dissections to isolate the retina and suprachiasmatic nucleus. While in Dr. Jo-Anne Bachorowski’s lab at Vanderbilt University I examined the gender differences in Socio-Emotional Expertise and interpersonal perception. I was able to study human participants and conduct data analysis. These experiences have reinforced my strong interest in understanding the neural mechanisms related to behavior and inspired me to pursue a career in social neuroscience.
