About Simone di Michele

With fifteen years of experience in humanitarian contexts, I am currently a Water and Habitat Team Leader at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In this role, I manage and supervise the design, implementation, and monitoring of water, electricity, housing and sanitation projects in conflict-affected areas, ensuring compliance with quality standards, budget, and timeline. I also coordinate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as local authorities, community leaders, donors, and other humanitarian organizations, to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the interventions. Previously, I worked as a WaSH and Shelter program and project manager in different countries, where I conducted assessments, surveys, and feasibility studies, drafted national programs, as well as provided technical support and training to local staff and partners. I have a master's degree in mechanical engineering and certifications in municipal solid waste management in developing countries (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) and biological wastewater treatment (IHE - UNESCO). Additionally, I am a certified ICRC project manager. I am passionate about applying my analytical skills and engineering knowledge to address vulnerable populations' needs and contribute to protecting and assisting people affected by armed violence. I am fluent in Italian, English, and French, and I value diversity, collaboration, and innovation in my work.
