About Simone Engels

I am a lighthearted, easy-going Kiwi. With the organisational skills of the Dutch. My approach to life is to be kind, have fun. But do so with honesty and accountability. I always show up for myself and others. This means taking care of my body and making the most of the time I have. Learning and growing have become my bread and butter. I am currently working as Head of Branding & Content for the Global Shakti Mats Team. This role has stretched my thinking and abilities and provided rewarding growth at a rapid rate. It has taught me to fail fast, and learn quickly. And you can do anything if you have the right mindset. During my time in this role, I have led a company rebrand, designed and implemented a communications plan, driven strategy for social media channels, assisted with product development, implemented and managed email marketing, led photo and video shoots, directed our content strategy, and implemented a new design and copywriting for all five of our websites. I have worn hundreds of eCommerce hats and refined my skills in the process. I love personal development, keeping active, and eating well. Outside of work, you can find me at a brewery, the boxing gym, perusing the isles of an organic store, on the beach. or parked up with a good non-fiction book. Until recently, self-help has filled my bookshelf. But now I'm on a streak of memoirs and autobiographies. A recent favourite is "I am a Girl from Africa" by Elizabeth Nyamayaro. A life lesson for me - things that make you sweat are the things that make you stretch. Recent instances of this are doing a skydive and becoming a certified Life Coach. Both terrified me but changed me for the better! I'm not afraid to try and laugh at myself in the process.
