About Simone Hammer

After more than 25 vibrant years in a rich variety of jobs and geographies, including 15 years with GE Healthcare, 5 years as a social entreprenuer in the Education sector and 5 years in the Edtech industry commercalizing a SaaS platform I would like to use my strategic and commercial skills to create more social impact. At GE Healthcare I held various Communications, Marketing and Strategy roles. I was based in Paris (France) and Freiburg (Germany) and have had a team in Helsinki (Finland). My roles always had an international reach. I had the opportunity to work in Corporate Marketing, MRI and Healthcare IT. It was with GE that I have learned to navigate a matrix organization and manage cross-functional teams in an international environment. At the same time I acquired my practical Marketing knowledge that I deepened with my Global Executive MBA at HEC Paris. Thanks to the HEC startup incubator, I launched and developed a new business model for alternative pedagogies, created my company (Montessori 21), deployed the franchise, trained franchisees and raised money with an investment fund, and all within the Social & Solidary Economy. When I joined Barco to develop their Education Technologies Business Unit, I was equipped with my corporate competencies, broad knowledge of the higher education and learning trends, as well as entrepreneurial skills. Together with my team we moved into adjacent markets by building deep understanding of Corporate Learning & Development. Most recently I was asked to lead the strategic transformation efforts of Barco’s Control Room business in the Renewable Energy & Healthcare markets. Next to my Corporate role I am delighted to lecture at my Alma Mater HEC Paris. Lecturing Graduate students on purposeful leadership and accompanying them on their leadership journey adds to my competencies as well as my personality as I never stop to learn and challenge myself.
