About Simone Hendrikx

My interests in the ecological world, specifically in areas of water science and environmental education started at a very young age. Personally, I have always been fascinated in the effects of climate change and how we as humans have a huge impact on the environment around us. As the world is constantly changing, it is essential to consider ways we can mitigate climate change and support our ever-changing ecosystems. I am passionate about going outside and in the field, looking at waterways and ecosystems. Having the ability to be with a group of like-minded people surveying and generating data from waterways, to write reports to show what we found and with that knowledge help the Earth is such an amazing experience. The skills of collecting and analysing water and earth samples vital in the career I am pursing in. Through the knowledge of data collection methods and analysis techniques like using equipment and online platforms like excel, I use my problem solving skills and critical thinking to write a report on the data I collected. I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Environmental Science Degree at Griffith University, Gold Coast and Nathan, Majoring in Soil and Water Science with the aspiration to work in the field, specifically in the department of water. I am passionate about my degree and engage in my local community as much as I can through citizen science and volunteer work to shape my knowledge and skills on the environment and how we can help it.
