About Simone Ieva

My research activity is focused mainly on the study of the physical properties of the atmosphereless bodies of Solar System (asteroids, comets, trojans, Trans-Neptunian Objects or TNOs), with a particular attention on the characterization of Near-Earth Asteroids (NEAs) who can have a close encounter with our planet. I've been involved in international campaigns from several telescopes around the world for the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of spectroscopic and photometric data. I've been interested also in the modelization of the composition of surfaces of minor bodies of Solar system, and in the statistical analysis of the phisical properties observed. Areas of interest- Physical characterization of NEAs trough photometric and spectroscopic observations, with a particular attention to possible targets of mitigation/sample-return missions- characterization of the basaltic material in the Solar System, and its relation with the asteroid Vesta - Physical characterization of the targets of the Dawn mission, Vesta and Ceres- Analysis and modelization of composition of minor bodies beyond the orbit of Neptune (TNOs)
