About Simone Montepiani

I hold a BSc in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, with a strong passion for space and aeronautics that has been with me since childhood. I'm currently pursuing a Master’s in Space Engineering, where I’m involved in several technical projects, both in groups and individually. Since early 2025, I’ve been working as a Space Debris Engineer at PoliSpace and from September 2025 I am the Division Leader of the Space Debris division. I am primarily interested in orbital mechanics, mission design, space launchers, propulsion systems, and the management of space debris. My goal is to integrate propulsion systems and flight dynamics to mitigate space junk in orbit, making space more accessible for future interplanetary missions. Outside of academics, I spent five years as a competitive swimmer during secondary school, achieving good results in regional championships. Today, I’m a dedicated marathon and trail runner with a passion for all mountain sports, cycling, swimming, and photography (the background photo on my profile is one of my own shots).
