About Simone Oconnor

I have been Aviva Ireland GI Strategy and Business Performance Lead since June 2020. I am a member of the Finance Leadership team responsible for delivering clear and actionable insights to the Board and ExCo on strategy and business performance while driving connectivity with the UK and Group. Currently managing Strategy, FP & A and Expense teams. Previously managed Finance Business Partnering and MI & Analytics teams. Aviva Insurance Ireland, a subsidiary of Aviva Plc, is a High Impact insurance company as designated by the Central Bank of Ireland. My primary objectives are to lead the annual strategy setting and monitoring strategic delivery, deliver performance insight with key internal and group stakeholders and design, develop and deploy a strong expense management framework underpinned by a robust operational risk and control management framework. I joined the business in April 2019 as GI Finance Business Partner. I hold a strong finance background having held a senior finance role in StarStone Insurance Bermuda Limited which is an international insurance group with six wholly owned insurance platforms, including Lloyd’s of London, Continental Europe and the US. StarStone is owned by Enstar Group Limited a multi-faceted insurance group. Prior to that I qualified as a Chartered accountant with Deloitte in Dublin. I have significant experience in insurance finance working with the wider business functions, people management and have been involved in business portfolio restructuring over an 11 year career. I have a keen interest in the embedding of diversity and inclusion as a business imperative across the global insurance sector.
