Simone Papernick is a healthcare leader with 10 years of leadership experience in mental health in both acute and tertiary healthcare organizations. She is committed to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families, staff and physicians, and the organization. Offering a unique combination of skills and experience, she is authentic, self-directed, resilient, empathetic, and an effective communicator who enjoys teamwork and endeavors to mentor, coach and empower staff. Simone models her commitment to others by being present, engaged, transparent, consistent, and following through. Simone provides strategic development and administrative leadership to interprofessional teams to ensure continuous enhancement of collaborative, high quality patient-centered, and evidence-based care. She leads her teams to drive quality improvement initiatives and obtain positive results on balanced scorecard metrics. Skilled in team building, Simone creates a culture of trust, respect, empathy, and engagement utilizing a shared governance model within her portfolios. Always focusing on the big picture, Simone takes a system’s approach; Being instrumental in creating strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders outside her program within the organization as well as those external to her organization. Her work with community agencies, the Ontario Health Team, and patients and families, ensures patient flow, effective, integrated care, and seamless transitions that support recovery-oriented practices. Ensuring financial stability in her programs, she has been able to stay within budget with a cost per activity remaining below the 25th percentile on the HIT Tool. As the Mental Health Lead for the design and operational readiness for a new build hospital and the build and implementation of a new EMR (EPIC), Simone has a proven track record of staff engagement and project, process, and change management. Simone has a master’s degree in Social Work and certificates in leadership and mediation. Simone was the award recipient for the annual President’s Award at Mackenzie Health in 2020 and is on the board for the Association of General Hospital Psychiatric Services.
