Dr. Simone Peters is a psychophysiologist who combines private practice with a research appointment with the Gastroenterology Department at Alfred Health, Monash University. Dr. Peters is the proud founder of the Mind + Gut Clinic, a multi-disciplinary gastroenterology clinic in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Peters has a keen interest in the role of brain-gut therapies in patients with disorders of gut-brain interaction. She was the first academic in Australia to examine the efficacy of gut-directed hypnotherapy as a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome. She also founded the gut-directed hypnotherapy program at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. Nerva, co-founded by Dr. Peters, is an evidence-based digital therapeutic designed to make gut-directed hypnotherapy widely accessible. The program has helped over people manage their gastrointestinal symptoms through a convenient mobile app. Dr. Peters is also the co-founder of Tumme, a pharmaceutical brand dedicated to improving symptoms in patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
