About Simphiwe Hashe

Simphiwe is a specialist in asset management advisory with extensive industry experience in all life cycle phases of infrastructure assets. He has specialist knowledge on strategic planning for energy infrastructure investment on a cost effective basis. The development of asset management strategies, policies, organisational improvement diagnostics, condition assessments and asset management plans have been his areas of focus. He has project delivery experience in South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria and the Philippines. Simphiwe spent many years at ESKOM, a South African energy utility, where he was responsible for the cost effective and optimal medium to long term electrical network expansion planning and portfolio optimisation. He also developed and embedded standardised load forecasting techniques, methodologies and tools in the ESKOM wires business. He was also responsible for the planning and integration of renewable energy in the Eastern Cape Province electrical distribution grid. He participated in a US Renewable Energy (RE) Integration Study Tour sponsored by the US Trade and Development Agency which covered five States. He has participated in various line function technical and research technology work groups in the network planning and expansion domain. He then took responsibility for maintenance and operations of electrical distribution infrastructure before joining the consulting industry. Simphiwe holds a BSc Hons degree from the University of Pretoria and management development certificates. He is professionally registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He is also a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (MSAIEE) as well as the Southern African Asset Management Association (SAAMA). He currently leads Zutari's Asset Management Advisory business, and is also the Expertise Leader for the Asset Management Service Offering.
