About Simphiwe Mongwe

Simphiwe Mongwe is currently a Researcher and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer at Columbus Consulting, he holds an Honours degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Johannesburg. He has over 7 years of experience working across diverse industries that share the common idea of actively contributing to the conversation around socio-economic development and Human Rights whilst making them accessible to all. His experience has exposed him to roles in different industries, such as a non-profit organisation, the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA) which strives to promote credible and free elections in Africa. He was one of the election observers for the Zambian 2016 elections. In 2018 he was a Research Assistant at a foreign policy think tank, Institute for Global Dialogue (IGD) which provides research and analysis of South Africa’s and Africa’s global politics through dialogues, debates and fostering conversations aimed at a better South Africa and Africa. He works as a researcher, and project coordinator to develop solutions-based training and foster M&E processes for the universities involved in the GBVF project. Simphiwe’s skill set includes research and training development, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, writing process, interpersonal relations, stakeholder management, storytelling and presentation, and exposure to project management processes. The above skills contributed to training and delivering GBVF workshops to over 1800 university students and university support staff over 2 years. His experience has put him at the forefront of understanding the extent universities are affected by GBVF and emphasizing the power of collaboration to realise an improvement in case reporting and preventative processes. His growth mindset influences his continuous learning and improvement of existing skills. His passion for contributing to the safety of women and children in communities and places of learning drives him to work hard and collaborate with different entities to realise working GBV solutions such as contributing to the GBVF curriculum in all places of learning and workplaces.
