About Simran Chowdhary

I am a Planner with a passion for utilizing my diverse skillset in urban design and architecture to make meaningful contributions to regional, urban, and community planning projects. My interest in the evolution of spaces goes beyond the physical structures and encompasses the broader concept of creating sustainable and inclusive environments. I am particularly fascinated by the intersection of spatial justice, local culture, and placemaking, which has driven me to conduct research on 'Informality in the Built Environment – A Kumasi-Calgary Collaboration Project.' This project received the esteemed Theresa Baxter Social Issues in Environmental Design award. I hold a Master of Planning from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Sushant School of Art and Architecture in India. Alongside my role as a Planner at O2, I actively contribute to the Federation of Calgary Communities' Urban Planning Committee and serve on the Activate YYC Review Panel. My dedication lies in the creation of vibrant, inspiring, and inclusive urban environments that enhance the quality of life for all.
