About Sine Tepe

Hi, I’m Sine — a PhD economist with 10+ years of experience trying to make sense of complex data and turn it into something that actually helps people and countries. My work sits at the intersection of research, policy, advocacy, and development—focused on inclusive and sustainable growth, especially in some of the world’s most vulnerable economies. I’ve led and contributed to research projects from start to finish—building models, digging into datasets, shaping policy write-ups, and occasionally turning numbers into visuals or opinion pieces that (hopefully) make economic ideas feel a little less abstract and a bit more digestible. I’m fluent in English, native in Turkish, and very at home in multilingual, sometimes delightfully chaotic environments. I’m confident in Stata and EViews, learning my way through R and Python, and always curious about new tools that help us ask better questions—and find better answers. Things I care deeply about: inequality, poverty reduction, trade, structural transformation, climate resilience, gender equity, digital inclusion—and how all of these look different depending on where you stand. I also have a soft spot for odd economic indicators and a well-designed chart that tells a story. Feel free to connect if you’re into data, development, or just enjoy talking about how the world could work a little better.
